Pickup handoffs are the hidden school ops problem

School pickup coordination for co-parents, caregivers, and after-school programs.

School tracking apps are crowded, but the real pain isn’t the bus pin — it’s proving who picked up the child, when, and under what authority.

THE MARKET

The school-logistics cluster is huge: avg volume is 118,618 across 50 keywords, with avg CPC of $5.30. Top terms include "school" at 1,000,000 volume, "bus tracker" and "tracker for bus" at 201,000 each, and "after school programs" at 110,000 volume with $6.42 CPC.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"App freezes / crashes","Verification code errors","Poor reliability / unusable app"
THE GAP

Existing school-bus apps are mostly route trackers, and many are already free or district-provided. The problem is reliability and handoff proof, not map pins — and negative reviews show the current layer is brittle: "hate it it's not updated or informative" and "It said put in verification code and when it would send me it it would say invalid even though I put it in right."

THE BUILD

Build a custody-verification layer with QR check-ins, authorized pickup lists, geofenced arrival alerts, and tamper-resistant handoff logs. Sell first to private schools, daycare chains, and after-school programs that still rely on paper sign-out sheets and parent phone calls.

WEEKEND MVP

A simple pickup log app with QR check-in, authorized pickup list, timestamped confirmations, and CSV export.
